About HERKO

HERKO is a company born in 2021 in the Basque Country from the joint vision of two leading players in the motor industry: BeGas, a manufacturer of engines powered by alternative energies, and Leciñena, a company with more than 50 years of experience manufacturing trailers and semi-trailers.

HERKO has the support of public institutions such as the Basque Government, through Itzarri EPSV; the Council of Bizkaia, through Seed Capital Bizkaia or the Center for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI), through Innvierte Program. The company is also supported by private investors, such as Easo Ventures (EV) and Full Global Investments (FGI).

Additionally, HERKO has established technological partnerships with leading companies such as Bosch and ZF, and research agreements with academic institutions such as the University of Zaragoza, the University of the Basque Country (UPV-EHU), and the University of Valencia.

HERKO is involved in a strategic alliance led by CEPSA and BeGas that aims to decarbonize professional urban transportation using Bio-LPG, as part of its efforts to promote the use of this biofuel.

Where we are

Our assembly plant is in Abanto and Ciérvana (Bizkaia). It has 8,000 m2 and capacity to produce up to 3,000 trucks per year.
