The future of land transport analysed at the IVL Conference

The Basque Institute of Logistics and Sustainable Mobility (IVL) played an active role in the second day of the first edition of Empack and Logistics & Automation, held over two days at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre.

Specifically, in the morning, a conference was held that was divided into two distinct parts. Thus, after the presentation by Iratxe García, Director of Organisation and Corporate Development at IVL, a first round table was held on ‘The present and future of land freight transport in the Basque Country’ with the participation of Zuberoa Elorriaga, maritime and transport lawyer at Aiyon, as moderator; Sonia García, President of Asetrabi; Inmaculada Ugarteche, Director of UniportBilbao; Antonio Jaraices, Director of Organisation, Communication and Corporate Strategy at Euskotren; and Almudena Palomero, Head of Transport and Shipment at Tubacex.

The second presentation dealt with sustainability and transport, under the umbrella of ‘The current situation and future of freight transport in cities with combustion vehicles’. The participants were Carlos Zubialde, from Lis Data Solution, as moderator; Cristina Lorenzo, head of transport and distribution at the Eroski Group; Agustín Leal de Lama, managing director of Herko Alternative Trucks; Pedro Silva, CEO of BeGas; and Iván Ruiz, deputy director of transport for the northern region at STEF.

After the round tables, there was time for two business conferences. The first dealt with the importance of TMS in transport, led by Raquel Pérez from Hedyla, while the second, given by Rodrigo Martín from Fieldeas, dealt with how visibility in the supply chain reaches the next level. The day ended with a cocktail reception.
